About Kevin Rodel

Kevin has been building and designing fine custom furniture for more than 30 years. He and Jonathan Binzen co-authored Arts & Crafts Furniture: from Classic to Contemporary, which in 2004 earned a coveted OAT Award from the American Library Association as an outstanding academic title in Arts and Architecture. He also writes articles for Fine Woodworking magazine and has frequently taught at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship in Rockport, Maine.

“My design work draws inspiration from past masters,” Kevin notes, “including the International Arts & Crafts Movement, traditional Asian furniture design, and architectural forms. But I always strive to make each piece contemporary in sensibility, and meaningful to our present lifestyles and environment.”

Kevin works on a commission-only basis and takes personal responsibility for every step of a project, from wood selection and layout to the final finish. Kevin considers each piece of his furniture to be an investment, not a commodity. He provides customized furniture design services to architects, interior designers and contractors.

All lumber sources conform to FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certification guidelines, and standard finishes are either a non-VOC-emitting pure linseed oil or pure shellac.
