These tables are based on a 1903 design by the Austrian Josef Hoffmann and offer a clear example of why well designed fine furniture is always in style. The tables have white oak bases with cypress tops. The black table has been ebonized while the white table has been bleached. The grain of the cypress tops has been enhanced through the “jin-di-sugi” treatment. The center checkerboard is ebony and ivory from recycled piano keys. The black & white version was awarded the"Best in Show" as well as "Best in Furniture" at the Maine Wood 2012 juried competion. The dark brown table has been "fumed" while the green finish was achieved with dyes. The brown and green versions have dark tile inserts.
